Is not that helpful to use classrooms with synchronous activities in virtual worlds. (Using a Virtual World for Transferable Skills in Gaming Education, M. Hobbs, E. Brown, and M. Gordon. Virtual World Environments.) However, using synchronous activities where the student interacts in new situations using the skills that are sought after by employers, would be valuable in learning. From the teaching side, it can be a bit labor intensive, although small groups of students can help reduce the work and foster teamwork. The smaller groups can interact with the larger group through analysis and discussion of the findings.Using synchronous activities where avatars can play out certain behaviors and actions, rather than scripting the animations and action using computer code, is much easier technically as an initial step. For example, it is much easier and more effective for an avatar to say they have a particular problem, than to script it out in animations.
